History: Aliyah was born to a middle class family in New York, New York. The name she was given was Ashera Amani. She had a decent childhood and her parents did the best they could. They ran a small motel on the outskirts of the city. Aliyah learned at a young age that she could see the future when she was playing with her mother’s tarot cards. She read the future for her brother and told him he would break his arm in three days. Three days later he fell out of a tree and broke his arm. Her mother saw it and told Aliyah that she came from a long line of psychic women and what she did was not surprising for someone in their family. Aliyah was asked to keep it a secret and she did. When she graduated from high school she found out her parents only had enough money for one of their children to go to college. Aliyah wanted the best for her brother. She used her skills to earn money and make her own way. Because her readings were accurate, Aliyah grew in popularity fast. One day a man came into her shop to have his fortune read. She saw him being bitten by a vampire. She could not believe what she saw. But she didn’t lie so she told him what she saw. He called her crazy and left without paying. Several months later the man returned with another man. The man was different. He was pale with golden eyes. The other man seemed like he was the boss of the first man. He warned her that since she knew about them, someone might come looking for her to hurt her. He told her about a safer place in Washington and she should change her name and go there. He gave her the money she needed to move and new identification papers with a new name. She moved to Forks, Washington and used the money t set up a new shop there. She hopes she can make a new start and no one will hurt her. Deep down, she is afraid someone will come and hurt her. She wishes she could see her own future.

She watched the traffic go by and the people walking along the small business district of her new town. She was beginning to like it in her new home. It was quieter than where she came from. New York was a big city. It was big and noisy. The noise was one of the main things she missed. It was too quiet at night. Sometimes her imagination ran away with her when it was dark and windy outside. Ever since she learned about the vampires she lived in fear.
She looked down at the news paper she was reading. She wanted to learn everything she could about the people in her new town. It always helped to know a little bit about the people she did readings for. She turned to the advertisement for her shop on the third page. She already looked at it fifteen times today but each time she looked she couldn’t help but smile. Now that her ad was in the paper, it wouldn’t be long before someone came to her shop and her new life would officially begin.
