Life for Adeline was very routine when she was a human. While growing up it had been all about the daily chores, which sustained life as she knew it. While her father and brothers were out in the fields tending to the crops Adeline, her mother, and older sister mended the clothing, took care of the livestock, and went to the small village market when needed. She was raised to be domestic and submissive but there was a fire inside of Adeline that was deeply hidden. Adeline had a hidden personality that she made sure her mother, father, nor brothers ever saw a glimpse of. She was quiet and kept to herself simply caring out the tasks that were bestowed on her. Only one, her older sister, knew that there was something different, unique in that time, about Adeline. They were the closest of siblings and confidants at that. Although Annelise, Adeline’s sister, didn’t understand this rebellious nature she accepted it.
Keeping her true self hidden, it was easy for Adeline to be married off. Her father had picked a nice man in a neighboring village to be her husband. He was kind and gentle and although he wasn’t the richest of suitors Adeline quickly became attached to him and he to her. Almost immediately after being wedded Adeline had her first child, a son. They had only planned to have one child because of their financial troubles but three years later Adeline had a second son. Despite the worries the couple was happy. Her husband, Garrett, was ten years Adeline’s senior but was healthy and energetic even after years of hard labor. Her children too were healthy and most importantly the family was happy together.
When the eldest boy turned fourteen the uprising caused by the Christians had finally hit home for Adeline. News had just come, through a family friend that her parents had been killed and the crusade was at her doorstep. Garret and the boys went out to try and talk it through peacefully but it was met with nothing but narrow mindedness. The Christians killed Garrett and her sons in cold blood right in front of her leaving Adeline, for some reason, alive. Her devastation let loose her anger and he anger allowed the hidden fiery side of Adeline to come to the surface. As if enough hadn’t been taken from Adeline, after the funerals of her sons and husband, she went to inquire about her brothers and sisters as well as their family. Everyone had been slaughtered and the only member left was Adeline.
One night a man came along with promises of revenge. He had a way to bring justice to the men who had killed her family. Without a second thought Adeline followed the man to a location where a group of other people were waiting. Along the way she had been told about vampires, that they existed and that she would soon be one too. He had lied to her the only reason Adeline was there was to be fed off of and she resisted greatly, violently. Then there was Thomas, her savior, he carried out the promise that had been made to her and together they got the revenge that Adeline was so hell bent on getting.
Traveling through Europe with Thomas had a therapeutic effect on Adeline, her hatred was soothed and the only thing that seemed to be important to her was spending time with the man that she was in love with. He had done so much for her and meant so much to her that the pair were inseparable. Victorian society had been a joy for Adeline. Being able to dress up in lavish gowns and gossip with girlfriends was something that excited her. It was so drastically different from the bland life she had as a human and Adeline made sure she experienced it to the fullest. Through the centuries they were financially smart, which was one thing about Thomas that she loved. He was protective of her not just physically but also financially and never having to worry about money was a luxury that she often indulged in.
When the New World was formed Adeline, of course, stuck by Thomas’ side and went to explore it although she was a little disappointed about leaving Europe the only thing that really mattered was that they were together. Here they established dominance and eventually set up shop in Washington taking on the role of King and Queen of that domain. Building their coven was an interesting ride. Kenneth MacAlpin was their most trusted and valuable Sheriff, albeit eccentric. His loyalty was a great asset to the coven as well as his friendship, a true joy to have around. Adeline is aware of the power that Kenneth possesses though and it frightens her slightly. Any thought of having Thomas and herself overthrown does though because being overthrown is done physically, any harm that comes to Thomas would devastate her.
Along side Kenneth there is Godric, a good friend. His recent request that Thomas and herself stay out of Forks had come as a surprise to her. Being political, as any good ruler should be, Adeline didn’t fight about it. She trusts Thomas’ judgment although will not allow herself to turn a blind eye to the situation. Her trust for Godric is high but not so high that she completely trusts him. Whatever is going on with the new vampire species Adeline requests (demands) on being kept up to date on. Just as Thomas is willing to help in the matter so is Adeline. The prospect of a new vampire species both intrigues and makes Adeline weary. Having anything threaten the hierarchy, in her eyes, is seen as hostile. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Adeline is quite comfortable in her seat of power. The fact that Godric is older and possibly more powerful than the two of them put together worries Adeline. She keeps things on extremely good terms in hopes that Godric will continue on just the way he is and always has been, by checking with Thomas and Adeline before doing anything that they might deem under his pay grade, so to speak.
Curiosity is the main feeling that Adeline has toward these new developments. What this species is all about could prove to be very beneficial to the coven and if not Kenneth and Godric are in the perfect position to take care of the other vampire species. Thomas is rather humane in his rule and, in some ways, so is Adeline. That fiery nature of hers does have a tendency to creep up though, especially when the people that she loves are in danger. Whether that danger is physical, emotional, or power related though it is all the same, Adeline will fight for its safety. Keeping to tradition Adeline doesn’t like to get her own hands dirty unless it is necessary. The last time that Adeline even used any amount of force was in her revenge killing of the Christians. Still, if it happened once it can happen again, and like before with vengeance. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
So, what do you like to eat?
Human blood
What foods make you hurl?
Everything else
What do you like to do?
-Spending time with Thomas, especially dancing
-Taking moon lit strolls in the garden
-Reading
That’s some attitude, want to tell me about it?
Adeline is refined in everything that she does, from the way that she speaks to the clothes that she wears. All outward appearances suggest that she is a classical damsel when in reality she can be vicious (proof of which is in her actions of revenge). She has a great love for Thomas, which is the only thing that matters to her now. Adeline is compassionate to all of their subjects (with the exception of people that threaten her family/lifestyle) and fawns on them in a motherly fashion.
So, what’s so good about you?
-Thoughtful
-Patient
-Kind
Do you have any flaws?
-Distrustful(As in she never truly trusts anyone completely except for Thomas)
-Unopinionated (outwardly)
-Unyielding
Other:
What else can you tell me?
I’m the Queen of Seattle
Can you do anything cool?
